Grower: Golden Temple
Rating: 4.5
The following diary entry is shared to provide insight into my personal use of cannabis to alleviate a series of medical and health issues.
Centipede Poison from Golden Temple announces itself with a striking and generously layered aroma — strong citrus lemon leads the charge, sweet and bright, quickly joined by a tart sweet green mango and very sweet candy creamy banana. What ties it all together is a fresh herbal backbone with a distinct long grass quality, clean and green, that keeps the sweeter notes grounded and honest and makes me think of Chinese grass jelly (and its related medicinal flavor and qualities). It is an aroma that manages to be simultaneously abundant and coherent — a lot going on, but nothing out of place. The flavor takes a more restrained path, leaning earthy and grassy (Chinese medicine like), pulling back from the tropical exuberance of the nose and settling into something quieter and more contemplative on the palate.
The high is heady and cerebral — the kind of effect that gets deep into the mind and stays there, thoughtful and present, with a clear upward pull that keeps the consumer aware of life, though in slow motion depending on the dosage, but far from sleep. It is a bud that leans heavily into introspection and focus rather than physical pleasures and adjustments.
I highly recommend Centipede Poison to experienced consumers who appreciate a generous, fruit-forward aroma with real tropical range and a high that rewards mental engagement. Golden Temple, as always is doing things that no one else is doing, and this cultivar is a strong example of their work. Novice consumers should approach with the usual moderation — the cerebral intensity of the high can be disorienting if you are not prepared for it.
