Nam Wah from Mr. Goodamm wears its name with full conviction. Named after the beloved Nam Wah banana — that short, intensely sweet variety so familiar to us in Thailand — this cultivar delivers on its namesake in spades. The aroma is loud, dank, and unmistakably banana-forward: overly ripe, almost fermented in its intensity, with pineapple and citrus/mango adding tropical breadth and a super sweet and sour quality. The flavor carries that same ripe banana with a custard leading durian note adding its distinctive deep sweetness, pepper and spice providing welcome contrast, and rosemary and pineapple threading through to keep the profile from settling into anything too predictable with pepper and pineapple finishing off the bud.
The high bears a striking resemblance to the cognitive qualities associated with Lion’s Mane mushroom: uplifting and thoughtful, chill yet fully engaged, with the senses sharpened and appreciative and focus and attention arriving with a completeness medicinal in its clarity. It is a high that enhances rather than diminishes, elevates rather than sedates.
I highly recommend Nam Wah without reservation to any consumer who appreciates a bold, fruit-forward tropical profile rooted in genuine Thai character, and a high that delivers cognitive clarity and sensory appreciation in equal measure. Mr. Goodamm has produced something truly special here — a cultivar that honors its name, surprises at every stage, and leaves the consumer wanting considerably more.
