Grower: Canis Major

The following diary entry is shared to provide insight into my personal use of cannabis to alleviate a series of medical and health issues.
I associate Da Funk with Canis Major. Many growers have put it out there, but none (even the ones who have put out admirable buds) has matched his level. The interesting thing about his buds, but Da Funk in particular, is that each iteration is noticeably different to the extent that they are completely new things unto themselves. This year’s young harvest of Da Funk is no different with sweet penetrating cold spearmint aromas, mixed with Christmas spice and a gassy diesel. Because of the youth of the newly harvested bud, Canis asked me to vape the bud first. The vape revealed dominating cold clear sweet mint flavors at temperatures between 178-195 C, leaving a mouthwash clean flavor in my mouth. Combusting the bud, however, revealed much more complicated fumes of diesel and paint thinner mixed with spice, earthiness and the aforementioned clear and clean spearmint. While the flavors were more complicated and interesting when combusting over vaping, they were not necessarily more delicious. Indeed, vaping was tastier. However, I expect that to change as the bud matures over the next couple months and will update at that time.
The high was mellow and gentle, awake and alert at first, but then slowly but progressively getting stronger and warmly moving through the body bringing slumber closer but not forcing sleep.
I highly recommend both combusting and vaping this iteration of Canis’s Da Funk. The flavors are rich, exciting, delicious and I feel lucky to have had this experience. The high is pleasant, easy and comforting like a warm hug. Strong enough to satisfy an experienced consumer, but never overwhelming and gentle enough for a virgin (and oh what a treat for a first time).
