Golden Temple cultivates the most unique Thai cultivars out there and grows the strongest buds I have come across in the Kingdom. In general, the buds are too strong for me to combust and I prefer dry vaping them at low temperatures so as not to completely lobotomize myself. But I did burn down with Hinoki Blue to get the full and most anticipated experience for consumers. The bud is beautiful, green, long and bushy, super sparkly and very sticky. Its sour sweet citrus and young mango aroma with wood and pepper notes is excellent. The flavor, grassy, woody peppery and a bit peaty sits on the front of the tongue with the citrus notes falling to the far background.
The high is strong. I generally smoke a J with between 1 to 2 grams of flower in it and in this case I knowingly only rolled about half a gram. I started off by taking three significant puffs before putting the bud down and taking a break. With that limited consumption I was hit with a dazzled, mesmerized and paralyzed state. While my body was fully unaffected, my brain went numb and I sat there barely able to operate for a short period of time. Eventually (perhaps after 10 minutes?) my state of paralysis waned, and I was left fully awake, engaged, with a buzz in my body, flighty and lightheaded, but with a full operating head. I continued taking minimal puffs for the next half hour or so maintaining that engaged high. But eventually my habits kicked in and I overindulged in that tiny joint—sending myself into a long stupor and then instinctively giving in to sleep (on my balcony)—with a third of the joint still left unconsumed.
I recommend combusting Hinoki Blue to only the most experienced and disciplined consumers. I am completely in love with the aesthetics and aromas of this bud—I’m even a big fan of the flavor which is clean, natural and very tasty. The bud is a masterpiece, but it requires the ability to consume small amounts over long periods of time. I suppose I would be able to do that throughout a day—but I am a glutton and small amounts (especially of cannabis) is an almost foreign concept to me. Who knows, perhaps one day I will mature. But in the meantime, I plan to revert to dry vaping and will check this bud out at lower strengths.
