Grower: White Labs Thailand
Rating: 4.6
Medellin, the last in this batch of White Lab samples, has convinced me that this grower is elite. They are now amongst my favorite growers in the Kingdom. Medellin is a beautiful example of their mastery. The bud has a super grassy, peaty, peppery and savory herbal aroma with a strong secondary note of pine. Once ground the bud puts out a pungent herb and black tea essence. The flavor caught me with an immediate taste of pepper (not one I normally am a fan of) and then quickly moved to a peaty, herbal and floral soap taste (intriguing, surprising and somehow very tasty) and then into a fragrant woodโsimilar to but not exactly sandal wood. These flavors and aromas have so many nuances, so many levels and layers, every time I identified one another one popped up more delightful and delicious than the previous.
The high is focused, engaged, incredibly able, fluent and motivating. I felt like my mind was processing information at a consistent and unstoppable paceโI jumped on my laptop and cleaned up my to do tasks and then attacked my fridge with an insatiable appetite. While the bud is motivating, I would not call it โenergizingโ. The bud kept my mind active and productive while at the same time relaxing my body and easing the pain of ageโall with an ever-developing euphoria. I thought I would have a hard time falling asleep because of the buzz in my headโbut after a quick round of breathing exercises I quickly drifted off to deep sleep.
I highly recommend Medellin to all consumersโthough only an experienced consumer will truly appreciate what they have here. This budโs beauty is in its cornersโin the aftertastes and the nuancesโin the secondary flavors and aromas and of course in its super productive high. Truth be told, its not a bud I would have picked up based off a quick and initial whiff, but I am so happy that I committed to fully experiencing this bud. For novice consumers who choose to go down this routeโit is strong, so partake in moderation.
