Grower: Canis Major
Rating: 4.6
I am surprised to see that I have never reviewed Canis Major’s Pineapple Burst. I have partaken in this bud many times through the last three plus years, but I suppose always in a social situation with Canis and never alone with my thoughts and notes. But here it goes: Pineapple Burst has a sour sweet syrupy tropical fruit, pineapple and citrus, aroma with some secondary and almost hidden notes of earth, spice and diesel. The flavor is unmistakably clear on pineapple, diesel and then pine and mint. As previously mentioned, I’ve had this bud many times before, but this is the first time that the diesel, pine and mint left such a clear impression on me—probably since it is the first time I could actually sit back and concentrate on the bud.
The high begins with a clear and isolated euphoria—I felt at peace, content and uplifted for the first few moments of the high before more heady effects, creativity, thoughtfulness, energy to engage, introduced themselves. I rode that creative energy for about an hour or so as the clock hit midnight . . . but then my own weariness kicked in and I began to fade away. With a tired body and four squares of dark chocolate in my mouth, I easily slipped into bed an then to sleep. Next time I’ll try it for daytime use (though I consumed the entire gigantic bud in this solo session).
I highly recommend Pineapple Burst to all consumers. The flavors and aromas are a great mixture of sweet candied fruit with hints of old school elements positively coloring the experience. The high is far from overwhelming, but is instead uplifting, controlled, utilitarian—appropriate for all consumers. I would be remiss not to point out that the quality of a Canis bud is also on another level. The attention to curing, in particular, is something which is hard to find elsewhere in the market.
