Mokumu’s Tulip from Cannatopia opens with an aroma that is ripe, sweet, and generously layered — overripe fruit leading with an almost fermented abundance, sweet candy and vanilla adding warmth and indulgence, and a slight sour citrus taffy quality threading through with a bright, tart edge. What is particularly interesting about this nose is its evolution: the initial intensity of the ripeness calms and settles after the first impression, revealing a softer, more composed red candy fruit character that emerges after grinding — a rewarding secondary layer that makes the preparation process part of the pleasure. The flavor opens with earthy, fruit candy warmth, vanilla and pepper adding depth and spice in equal measure, before the most distinctive note of the session arrives as the joint burns down — a Benadryl quality that is as specific as it is memorable: medicinal and bitter cherry, the unmistakable taste of liquid antihistamine that catches the consumer off guard and lingers with a curious and oddly compelling persistence. It is a flavor that divides its chapters clearly, and the final one is unlike almost anything else encountered this year.
The high is warmly and contentedly stoned — laid back and lazy, clearly happy and thoroughly relaxed, the kind of effect that settles the consumer into their surroundings with a smile and asks nothing further of them. It is uncomplicated in the best sense, a deeply pleasant and easygoing stone that makes the evening feel soft and unhurried.
I recommend Mokumu’s Tulip to consumers who appreciate a sweet, fruit-forward aroma of real generosity and a high that delivers happy, relaxed, and thoroughly comfortable ease.
