UpperCut on Tour: The Highest Sesh in Low Season on the 18th of May in Phuket at Phuket High

Historically speaking, GG4 has been one of the strains I have shied away from. In fact, I have not touched it since way before legalization. That bud normally drives deep into the couch, where I become a useless mess of a man deep into the following day with a residual cloudy head. But after a long and incredibly tiring day of chasing baby Mendel all over Bangkok (a super fund day nonetheless)—I wanted something that would relax my aching muscles and numb my brain. Teera Botanicals sent me a sample of GG4 and while my first reaction was that of trepidation, I welcomed the bud like an old friend. I opened the bag and was met with an alluring old school odor of skunk, piney, pepper and a gas so pungent that it hit me in the back of the throat. The pine and skunk came through in the flavor coupled with an earthy nuttiness which was pleasant and smooth.

Given my history with GG4, I purposefully only smoked a ½ gram joint. But the second I finished I knew what I was in for and scrambled to get my notes down before the effects set in deeply.  GG4 gets into the body immediately, relaxing the muscles and reducing stress stored in the shoulders and hips.  A fleeting but pleasurable stimulation of the brain creates a burst of creativity and thought which disappears as quickly as it occurs. The pleasure and a euphoric feeling remain, but a clear slowdown in thought and processing ability takes over. The body and mind both slowly turn to Jello as the stomach cries out in hunger. The user, a happy but useless blob on a couch, will be drained of any motivation whatsoever, except for the need to satisfy that immense hunger in the belly. Once a copious amount of calories are ingested—the user becomes one with the couch eventually turning to sleep. A sleep so deep that it carries into the next day with a lethargic reminder of the previous night’s bud.

Teera Botanical clearly knows how to grow.  Indeed, my hat is off to them for growing this old school classic—the flavors and aromas were so satisfying—and I really wish more excellent growers would apply their talents to OG strains. GG4 satisfied what I needed on a particular exhausting day and I am thankful that I had it amongst my samples. But GG4 is not an everyday strain, its effects lasting into the next day are too strong and not appropriate for novice users. I do recommend GG4 for experienced users who will understand that it is a valuable tool to apply as necessary.
