Grower: Actera/Taratera

Rating: 4.6

Emergen-C may be the most reviewed strain on these pages. Master growers in Thailand seem to have an affinity for this bud and it keeps landing in my hands and lungs. I’ve most recently smoked this bud in three separate occasions courtesy of the gents at Actera. The first Actera Emergen-C bud I smoked was submitted (and garnered runner up status) at the Second Phuket Cannabis Cup. That bud was young, but rich in a sweet refreshing orange flavor. The second bud I smoked was the second night of the Phuket Cup, the same night that it was honored with runner up status.  Actera’s bud is rich in a fermented orange flavor, a funk reminiscent of a keen and overly aggressive lover. A sweetness plays off that funk, tempering it a bit. The bud coats the mouth in a rich funky orange. In Phuket it put an end to my enjoyment of other samples given to me for the remainder of the night. Nothing could match its flavor and everything else fell flat.

Emergen-C’s high is engaging and energetic—providing a boost of creativity and encouraging engagement with others. At the same time it is pretty strong and may impair some basic motor skills and slow down thinking. This can be a good thing for many tasks—such as interviewing and creating content. But is not necessarily the best for planning events into the future. Emergen-C helped with tasks at hand but left me in a daze when trying to figure out tomorrow.  Highly recommended for the experienced cannabis user—but should be used sparingly by novice users.
