Dispensary: Phuket High

Grower: Harvest Hybrid

Rating: 4.4

Orange Haze caught me by surprise. I expected a fully charged sativa heavy energetic strain. But instead I found myself with a fairly balanced hybrid—perhaps leaning slightly on the sativa side, but not without some deeply relaxing indica characteristics.

The Orange Haze nugget I had was a small and dense with dark green with spots of purple and little green hairs all around. The bud emitted a candy orange odor—very sweet and tangerine like. The taste, when vaped, was similar to an orange seltzer: not very strong, but present and noticeable nonetheless. That taste remained for quite some time after I vaped, and I kept smacking my lips in appreciation. The taste when smoked is excellent and superior, the orange comes out more and is coupled with a smooth earthy after taste.

The initial effects are of a sativa nature: engaged, alert and very heady with a profound feeling. But as mentioned above, the heady high is followed by a significant and relaxing body high. All in all, Orange Haze is very balanced and would be appropriate for socializing and relaxing with friends early in an evening. It is not the most uplifting of strains, and I think it is missing the euphoric elements I look for in a good bud. But it is nevertheless a solid balanced strain which has its place.

I would recommend Orange Haze to both novice and experienced users. Both groups will enjoy the mild but pleasant and smooth orange tastes. Experienced users will appreciate the balance of the bud and the completeness of the effects—and novice users will (in smaller quantities) receive a good education in the dynamic effects of a bud moving from heady to relaxed.
